Sport and exercise

Sport climbing

At our school, sport and exercise do not only take place in physical education, but are an integral part of the lesson structure ("moving lessons") as well as everyday school life ("moving breaks").

Physical education includes the promotion of motor skills as well as promotion in the area of perception, in particular body and space perception. The spectrum of motor skills development ranges from spontaneous movement games to the development of individual sport-specific techniques and athletic performance.

Goals and content

The goals and content of physical education are based on the school's own catalog of "motor skills", the "curriculum for the specialization of intellectual development, Bavaria" and, in particular, the "framework for school sports" in which goals and content are listed as follows:

·  Perceiving the body and developing the ability to move

·  Discover play and use space

·  Running, jumping, throwing, athletics

·  Moving in the water - swimming

·  Moving on devices - gymnastics

·  Creating, dancing, performing - gymnastics / dance, movement arts

·  Playing in and with rule structures - sports games

·  Gliding, driving, rolling - roller sports

·  Wrestling and fighting

·  Acquire knowledge and understand sport

In addition to this "sporting" content, the following educational content is also important to us:

·  Improve the ability to perceive, expand the experience of movement

·  express yourself physically, create movements

·  dare to take responsibility for something

·  experience, understand and assess performance

·  Cooperate, compete and communicate

·  Promote health, develop health awareness

Spatial conditions at our school

Physical education takes place once a week in the Gym instead, which is just big enough and average equipped for our circumstances. Each class has one teaching block (2 hours) per week. This usually takes place within the level or across levels in cooperation.

A neighbor sports ground can be used as a training ground for athletics and football.

The urban one Indoor swimming pool as well as that Teaching pool The Claudius School are available for swimming lessons, so that each class can go swimming once a week (with the school's own bus).

School-owned events and events

It takes place once a year in cooperation with the Robert-Brauner Förderschule Sports festival in the "Mondpalast-Arena" (formerly "Stadion Wanne Süd") and a Swimproof in the "Südpool" in Herne. These festivals offer all students space for movement, play and fun, at the same time they enable a comparative measurement of strengths, for example in the form of swimming competitions, three-way competitions in athletics and relay competitions.

Our school also organizes one once a year Soccer tournament, to which football teams from special schools in the region are cordially invited. Our soccer team also takes part in various tournaments and friendly matches in the area.

A so-called "Exercise Week" takes place once a year, usually between the summer and autumn holidays. Here the pupils can take part in a variety of exercise activities, such as cycling, hiking, inline skating, swimming, orienteering in the forest, snoezeln / relaxation, exercise construction site….

In the last 4 years our school has had two "Sponsor runs" (for UNICEF and SOS Children's Villages), each of which was carried out with great motivation and great success.
